Driving support for local Shoalhaven charities

The 2015 SBC Macey Insurance Charity Golf Day

Whether you know your Albatross from your Eagle or you simply want to get away from work for a fun day out in the name of charity, the 2015 SBC Macey Charity Golf Tournament is almost upon us.

This year is going to be bigger and better than before and we’re hoping for strong local support to raise money for three very well deserved charities.

Last year, a total of 30 teams entered to take home the coveted title and in the process, the whole event raised over $7500 for local charities Shoalhaven Homeless Hub, Southcoast Care and A Taste of Paradise.

This year’s chosen charities

This year we are very pleased to announce that Sailability Shoalhaven, Shoalhaven Education Fund and Shoalhaven Kids in Need have been selected to benefit from a little extra help with funding from this fabulous golf day.

Shoalhaven Education Fund

The Shoalhaven Education Fund was established in 2012 in order to raise funds for financial awards given to disadvantaged young people from the Shoalhaven, to assist with their incidental costs of attending University, TAFE, vocational training or starting apprenticeships. These young people come from difficult backgrounds or family situations who are in need support to achieve their goals in education and building a brighter future for themselves.

Shoalhaven Kids in Need

Since 1994, Kids in Need has been fundraising for families of children with acute and chronic medical conditions in the Shoalhaven. Funds raised provide financial support for accommodation costs, travel and emergency expenses for families who need to travel to Sydney hospitals. Kids in Need also raises money to assist with equipment purchases or respite care for Shoalhaven families with disabled children.

Sailability Shoalhaven

Founded in 2005, Sailability Shoalhaven provides sailing experiences for students of all ages who may have a variety of disabilities including autism, physical, intellectual or bevioural challenges. Sailability Shoalhaven uses boats of Universal Design and provides one of the world’s most inclusive sports. Sailability Shoalhaven enable people of all ages and abilities to get together and participate on an equal level in sport by having fun, learning and experiencing freedom on the water.

Order of play

In order for us to raise more money this year, the SBC Macey Charity Golf Day has got a lot more exciting challenges ahead, with easy ways to part with your cash for our charities. The format and competition will be a one round Ambrose tournament in teams of four. It’ll be an early meet with breakfast before a shotgun start and the round will be followed up with a lunch and guest speaker.

Sink a hole in one for your chance to WIN a car!

We have got a number of exciting novelty holes provided including the Country Motors & Macey Insurance Brokers Hole in One competition on the 12th. You could win a brand new 2015 Hyundai Sonata valued at $35,000 so make sure you get your swing in shape and accuracy down to a tee. Terms and conditions are available on the 12th hole.

Local PGA Pro Golfer Paul Maiolo

Don’t worry if you’re not a serious golfer, we’ll make it easier for you to enjoy your game. Call local PGA Pro-golfer Paul Maiolo who is on call to give you a hand with your game and give you some tips.

What’s more, for a small fee he can do it for you. Call Paul during your round and he’ll come and play your shot for you. All fees go to our charities so don’t be shy in giving him a call, he’s only a short caddy cart ride away!

Talking of caddy carts, Webics will be bringing out the drinks cart again this year and providing light refreshments to keep you cool during those important shots. Drink responsibly please and no drinking and driving off the tee.

X Games Robbie Maddison’s extreme speech

No golf day will be complete without lunch and a guest speaker. This year X Games Motocross rider Robbie Maddison will be sharing some of his tales of world record jumps and extreme sports adventures. You may even see him tear up the course in the morning, with his clubs not his bike!

We look forward to joining us on November 27th at Nowra Golf Club, it’s going to be a great day.
