1971 John Macey commences business on 15th January 1971 as a Life and General Insurance agent for well-known insurance company Legal & General.  He soon realises that his clients require a more comprehensive service.  This leads to the decision to become an insurance broker and act as the representative of the client rather than the insurance company.

1972 General Insurance Broking operations begin and facilities are arranged with a number of prominent underwriters.  As the first Insurance Broker south of Wollongong, business is transacted along the South Coast from Kiama to the Victorian border.

1976 New offices are opened at 144 Junction Street, Nowra in the former 2WL radio station studio.

1980 Paul Goddard joins as a partner in the business.

1982 The new, three storey Macey Building is opened at 144 Junction Street with ultra modern facilities and a shop front for insurance clients.

1985 Macey Insurance Brokers joins the NSW based Insurance Planners Group who later become a key player in the formation of the Insurance Brokers Network of Australia (IBNA).

1987 Macey Insurance Brokers purchases the Wollongong arm of Nadic Australia Insurance Brokers and commences trading in Wollongong city.

1988 The company merges with Wollongong Insurance Brokers and moves the northern branch into their well-established premises, historic “The Anchorage” at 92 Smith Street, Wollongong.

1991 Further expansion sees the commencement of operations in the southern highlands with the opening of our office at 188 Bong Bong Street, Bowral.

1992 Bowral manager, David Townsend purchases a shareholding in the company.

1994 Our Wollongong office moves to a larger and more modern building at 306B Crown Street, Wollongong.

1994 John Macey, as inaugural national chairman, plays a key role in the launch of the Insurance Brokers Network Australia (IBNA).

1996 We celebrate our 25th anniversary.

2001 The beginning of a new millennium sees conversion to the CBS broking system and the company moves forward with leading edge technology.

2001 Paul Goddard is elected to the board of National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA), further demonstrating the company’s commitment to the industry.

2004 The company is granted an Australian Financial Services License under the new federal legislation.

2005 Brendan Goddard purchases a shareholding in the business and is appointed a director of the company.  The succession plan is underway.

2008 Former employee, Paul Brown, purchases a shareholding in the business and is appointed a director, further strengthening the succession plan and the future of the company.

2010 Brendan Goddard & Paul Brown purchase the remaining shareholding held by John Macey who retires from the company. Kerrie Coxell purchases shareholding adding versatility to the young and dynamic management team and extra strength to the succession of the business.

2012 The company head office is relocated to larger premises at Level 2, 24 Berry Street, Nowra.

2013 The Bowral office is relocated into new and modern premises to cater for the growing office. Long term valued team member Donna Dykstra purchases shareholding in the Company commencing the succession plan for David Townsend and the Bowral office.

2014 The company undergoes a new brand positioning with new logo and refreshed website and content for its customers.
